All students enrolled in a degree-seeking program at least half-time must provide proof of insurance to waive Yale Health Hospitalization/Specialty Care Coverage. Waivers must be completed each academic year.
All eligible enrolled students attending Yale at least half-time and working towards a Yale degree, receive many Yale Health services, including primary care*. Students do not have to sign up or pay extra for these services known as Yale Health’s Basic Student Health Services. Your status as an eligible Yale University undergraduate, graduate, or professional student automatically makes you eligible for and enrolls you in Yale Health Basic Student Health Services. If you are eligible for Yale Health Basic Student Health Services, the university requires you to obtain additional coverage for hospitalization and specialty care; unless you waive Hospitalization/Specialty Care coverage you are automatically enrolled in and billed for that coverage as well.
It is important to review all your coverage documents. The documents complement each other and are not intended to stand alone. The Schedule of Benefits and the Summary of Benefits & Coverage do not list all services and treatments and are subject to all the terms, conditions, exclusions, and limitations outlined in the Student Guide (“the plan document”). The plan document governs all questions of interpretation.
