This is a 12-credit stackable certificate that aligns with our M.S. in Accounting and Business Advisory Services program.

Courses are offered on the UBalt campus or online.

This program is charged at the graduate business tuition rate. Tuition is $875 per credit for in-state and regional residents, and $1,209 per credit for out-of-state residents. Additional fees will be applied. Learn more about tuition and fees.

The Graduate Certificate in Business Valuation is stackable credential for people who want to hone their skills in estimating the economic value of an organization's financial interest and risk.

Increasingly, jobs in public and private accounting and corporate finance require a strong combination of advanced business valuation skills. In is common for public accounting firms to provide some sort of valuation services as part of their practices. In addition, valuation services are routinely required as part of accounting and audit exams. Likewise in the field of finance there is often an expectation of advanced valuation skills, especially in practices dealing with mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

This certificate will allow students who seek more focused training in business valuation to develop necessary expertise in these areas. It will also address the needs of students in accounting who are need to complete 150 credit hours for purposes of CPA licensure, but who do not necessarily seek a full master's degree.

All courses are currently offered within the graduate program offerings of the Merrick School of Business and could be counted toward the completion of the M.S. in Accounting and Business Advisory Services, the M.S. Business-Finance, as well as the UBalt MBA.

Certificate Requirements

To receive a Certificate in Business Valuation, you must complete 12 credits of coursework and maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 for courses taken in the certificate program. The coursework must be completed after you have received a bachelor's degree or equivalent. The certificate requires undergraduate or graduate knowledge in accounting or finance as a prerequisite for some courses in the certificate program. Contact Program Director with questions.
